BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Accurate preoperative prediction of microvascular invasion (MVI) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) is vital for personalised hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) management. We developed a multitask deep learning model to predict MVI and RFS using preoperative MRI scans. METHODS: Utilising a retrospective dataset of 725 HCC patients from seven institutions, we developed and validated a multitask deep learning model focused on predicting MVI and RFS. The model employs a transformer architecture to extract critical features from preoperative MRI scans. It was trained on a set of 234 patients and internally validated on a set of 58 patients. External validation was performed using three independent sets (n = 212, 111, 110). RESULTS: The multitask deep learning model yielded high MVI prediction accuracy, with AUC values of 0.918 for the training set and 0.800 for the internal test set. In external test sets, AUC values were 0.837, 0.815 and 0.800. Radiologists' sensitivity and inter-rater agreement for MVI prediction improved significantly when integrated with the model. For RFS, the model achieved C-index values of 0.763 in the training set and ranged between 0.628 and 0.728 in external test sets. Notably, PA-TACE improved RFS only in patients predicted to have high MVI risk and low survival scores (p < .001). CONCLUSIONS: Our deep learning model allows accurate MVI and survival prediction in HCC patients. Prospective studies are warranted to assess the clinical utility of this model in guiding personalised treatment in conjunction with clinical criteria.

Rapid detection of genistein in soya products has remained difficult. Current methods necessitate sample handling and use of costly instruments. Here, using a simple one-pot reverse microemulsion method, a sensor based on N-doped carbon dots conjugated molecularly imprinted polymers (N-CDs@MIPs) was synthesized to analyze genistein. N-doped carbon dots were used as fluorescent component, genistein as the template molecule, and molecularly imprinted polymers as the selective sorbent in this fluorescence sensor. The sensor was then examined and optical studies demonstrated that N-CDs@MIPs not only had strong fluorescence emission and outstanding optical stability, but also had good sensitivity (detection limit 35.7 nM) and selectivity to genistein. Furthermore, the N-CDs@MIPs materials were used to analyze genistein in soya products, and the findings (which ranged from 99.77% to 106.11%) show that the N-CDs@MIPs has high potential for quickly detecting the amount of genistein in complicated food samples.

OBJECTIVES: From March to June 2021, the reported number of clinically diagnosed endemic typhus in Anhui and Hubei provinces of China nearly increased four-fold compared with the monthly average numbers in last 5 years. An etiological and epidemiological investigation was initiated. METHODS: The clinical specimens from the reported patients and the potential vector ticks were collected for molecular and serological detection, as well as cell culturing assay to identify the potential pathogen. RESULTS: Polymerase chain reaction and sequence analysis of rrs and groEL showed that the pathogen from these patients was Ehrlichia sp., isolated from Haemaphysalis longicornis attached to these patients. The phylogenetic analysis based on 39 Ehrlichia genomes suggested that it should be taxonomically classified as a novel species, tentatively named "Candidatus Ehrlichia erythraense". A total of 19 of 106 cases were confirmed as Candidatus Ehrlichia erythraense infections by polymerase chain reaction, sequencing, and/or serological tests. The most frequent symptoms were fever (100%), rashes (100%), asthenia (100%), anorexia (100%), and myalgia (79%). CONCLUSION: The occurrence of the disease presenting with fever and rashes in Anhui and Hubei provinces was caused by a novel species of the genus Ehrlichia; physicians need to be aware of this newly-discovered pathogen to ensure appropriate testing, treatment, and regional surveillance.

Malignant glioma is a highly heterogeneous and invasive primary brain tumor characterized by high recurrence rates, resistance to combined therapy, and dismal prognosis. Glioma stem cells (GSCs) are likely responsible for tumor progression, resistance to therapy, recurrence, and poor prognosis owing to their high self-renewal and tumorigenic potential. As a family member of BMP signaling, bone morphogenetic protein4 (BMP4) has been reported to induce the differentiation of GSCs and neural stem cells (NSCs). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the BMP4-mediated effects in these two cell types are unclear. In this study, we treated hGSCs and hNSCs with BMP4 and compared the phenotypic and transcriptional changes between these two cell types. Phenotypically, we found that the growth of hGSCs was greatly inhibited by BMP4, but the same treatment only increased the cell size of hNSCs. While the RNA sequencing results showed that BMP4 treatment evoked significantly transcriptional changes in both hGSCs and hNSCs, the profiles of differentially expressed genes were distinct between the two groups. A gene set that specifically targeted the proliferation and differentiation of hGSCs but not hNSCs was enriched and then validated in hGSC culture. Our results suggested that hGSCs and hNSCs responded differently to BMP4 stimulation. Understanding and investigating different responses between hGSCs and hNSCs will benefit finding partner factors working together with BMP4 to further suppress GSCs proliferation and stemness without disturbing NSCs.

The ongoing global pandemic of novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) caused by the SARS-CoV-2 has a significant impact on global health and economy system. In this context, there have been some landmark advances in vaccine development. Over 100 new coronavirus vaccine candidates have been approved for clinical trials, with ten WHO-approved vaccines including four inactivated virus vaccines, two mRNA vaccines, three recombinant viral vectored vaccines and one protein subunit vaccine on the "Emergency Use Listing". Although the SARS-CoV-2 has an internal proofreading mechanism, there have been a number of mutations emerged in the pandemic affecting its transmissibility, pathogenicity and immunogenicity. Of these, mutations in the spike (S) protein and the resultant mutant variants have posed new challenges for vaccine development and application. In this review article, we present an overview of vaccine development, the prevalence of new coronavirus variants and their impact on protective efficacy of existing vaccines and possible immunization strategies coping with the viral mutation and diversity.

Objective: The present study aimed to determine whether residual dizziness (RD) after successful repositioning treatment in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) patients could be predicted by red blood cell distribution width (RDW). Materials and methods: In this study, a total of 303 BBPV patients hospitalized at the neurology department were investigated. The enrolled patients were divided into two groups after successful repositioning treatment: non-RD group included patients who were completely cured, and RD group included patients with RD. We collected data on all subjects, including general information, blood routine examination, blood biochemical examination, and magnetic resonance imaging tests. Results: The mean RDW values of patients in the RD group were significantly higher than that in the non-RD group (13.63 ± 1.8 vs. 12.5 ± 0.8; p < 0.001). In subsequent multivariate analysis, elevated RDW levels were a statistically significant risk factor associated with the occurrence of RD [odds ratio = 2.62, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.88-3.64, p < 0.001]. The area under the ROC curve was 0.723 in terms of its predictive ability to distinguish patients with RD. A cut-off point of 12.95% of RDW predicted RD with a sensitivity of 75.6% and a specificity of 69.5%. Moreover, the AUC for the ability of the RDW to predict recurrence were 0.692 (95% CI = 0.561-0.831; p < 0.014). Conclusions: Elevated RDW level was related to increased risk of RD among BPPV patients, requiring further efforts to clarify the actual underlying pathophysiology.

Malignant Glioma is characterized by strong self-renewal potential and immature differentiation potential. The main reason is that malignant glioma holds key cluster cells, glioma stem cells (GSCs). GSCs contribute to tumorigenesis, tumor progression, recurrence, and treatment resistance. Interferon-beta (IFN-ß) is well known for its anti-proliferative efficacy in diverse cancers. IFN-ß also displayed potent antitumor effects in malignant glioma. IFN-ß affect both GSCs and Neural stem cells (NSCs) in the treatment of gliomas. However, the functional comparison, similar or different effects of IFN-ß on GSCs and NSCs are rarely reported. Here, we studied the similarities and differences of the responses to IFN-ß between human GSCs and normal NSCs. We found that IFN-ß preferentially inhibited GSCs over NSCs. The cell body and nucleus size of GSCs increased after IFN-ß treatment, and the genomic analysis revealed the enrichment of the upregulated immune response, cell adhesion genes and down regulated cell cycle, ribosome pathways. Several typical cyclin genes, including cyclin A2 (CCNA2), cyclin B1 (CCNB1), cyclin B2 (CCNB2), and cyclin D1 (CCND1), were significantly downregulated in GSCs after IFN-ß stimulation. We also found that continuous IFN-ß stimulation after passage further enhanced the inhibitory effect. Our study revealed how genetic diversity resulted in differential effects in response to IFN-ß treatment. These results may contribute to improve the applications of IFN-ß in anti-cancer immunotherapy. In addition, these results may also help to design more effective pharmacological strategies to target cancer stem cells while protecting normal neural stem cells.

This study aimed to investigate the research trend of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) against premature ovarian fai-lure(POF) from 1989 to 2021 by bibliometrics and explore the research status, research hotspots, and advances in international co-operation, knowledge structure, and active topics.The research articles on POF published from database inception to December 28, 2021, were retrieved from Web of Science and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and visually analyzed for countries, journals, authors, institutions, and keywords by CiteSpace 5.8.R3.A total of 1 468 articles were included, including 217 in English and 1 251 in Chinese.Since 1989, there has been an overall upward trend in the number of articles, with China serving as the main contributor.The core authors of Chinese articles are from a cooperative team represented by FENG Yi-xuan, REN Yu-lan, LING Le-le, and TENG Xiu-xiang.BETTERLE C is the author with the highest number of published articles in this international research field.The articles are mainly published by TCM journals and universities, and Human Reproduction accounts for the highest proportion of publications in the international research(11 articles, 5.07%).In the retrieved research articles, the research contents mainly focus on the treatment methods, research methods, and mechanism of action of TCM in the treatment of POF, where "Zuogui Pills" "gene" "cell" "model" "expression", etc.are the current research hotspots. "Acupuncture" "data mining" "systematic review" "oxidative stress" "activation" may be the potential topics in the follow-up research development.Future development should focus on the scientific interpretation and analysis of the theory and practice of TCM by modern scientific and technological methods.The research on informatization, digitization, and knowledge of TCM theory and practice is pivotal to promoting the internationalization and modernization of TCM, which can help researchers explore new directions for future research and identify new perspectives for potential collaboration in the field.

BACKGROUND: Type A insulin resistance syndrome (TAIRS) is a rare disorder characterized by severe insulin resistance due to defects in insulin receptor signaling. No specific drugs are available for the treatment of TAIRS. We report a case of TAIRS successfully treated with pioglitazone and flutamide for 5 years. CASE SUMMARY: We present the rare case of a female patient aged 11 years and 9 mo with type A insulin resistance and an INSR heterozygous mutation (c.3614C>T), who was treated with a combination of pioglitazone and flutamide. This treatment regimen reduced hemoglobin A1c, fasting insulin and androgen levels. CONCLUSION: Pioglitazone attenuated insulin resistance in this patient with TAIRS, and flutamide ameliorated masculinization.

OBJECTIVE: Predicting the prognosis of transient ischaemic attack (TIA) is difficult for many frontline clinicians. The purpose of this study was to determine whether subsequent stroke in TIA patients can be predicted via red blood cell distribution width (RDW). MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 360 consecutive patients with new-onset TIA in our stroke centre, were enrolled over the period studied. The patients were divided into three groups: 103 TIA patients, 206 ischaemic stroke (IS) patients and 51 patients with haemorrhagic stroke (HS) within 7 days after TIA. Complete blood count, biochemical parameters and brain imaging were performed on all patients. RESULTS: The mean RDW values of patients with IS and HS after TIA were significantly higher than patients with TIA (13.35 ± 1.59 vs 12.84 ± 1.19, 13.32 ± 1.08 vs 12.84 ± 1.19, respectively, all p ≤ .001). In a multivariate model, RDW was independently associated with stroke after TIA (IS: odds ratio (OR) = 2.52, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.46-3.35, p = .002; HS: OR = 1.511, 95% CI = 1.101-2.074, p = .011). Compared to ABCD2 scores, the diagnostic power of RDW in the differentiation of patients with IS after TIA was better (area under curve (AUC): 0.731 vs 0.613, p = .015). When an RDW cut-off value of 13.95% was accepted for differentiating patients with IS from TIA, the sensitivity and specificity were 73.7% and 74.3%, respectively. However, the AUC for the ability of the RDW to predict HS was 0.653 (95% CI = 0.589-0.716; p < .001). CONCLUSIONS: The early determination of RDW is a promising, rapid, easy and inexpensive biomarker to predict the subsequent stroke in TIA patients, especially for IS. KEY MESSAGESThe most important result of our study is to show that (1) the higher RDW, the earlier the stroke onset and (2) RDW ≥13.95% has a 2.52-fold risk of ischaemic stroke in TIA patients, and RDW ≥12.85% has a 1.51-fold risk of haemorrhagic stroke.As an economic and accessible hematological marker, baseline RDW may serve as a useful biomarker for risk stratification in TIA patients.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the seroreactivity of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination and its adverse events among systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, and healthy controls (HCs). METHODS: A total of 60 SLE patients, 70 RA patients and 35 HCs, who received a complete inactivated COVID-19 vaccine (Vero cells) regimen, were recruited in the current study. Serum IgG and IgM antibodies against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) were determined by using chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA). RESULTS: There were no significant differences regarding the seroprevalences of IgG and IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, and the self-reported vaccination-related adverse events among SLE patients, RA patients and HCs. The inactivated COVID-19 vaccines appeared to be well-tolerated and moderately immunogenic. In addition, case-only analysis indicated that in SLE patients, the disease manifestation of rash and anti-SSA autoantibody were associated with seroprevalence of IgG antibody against SARS-CoV-2, whereas the uses of ciclosporin and leflunomide had influence on the seroprevalence of IgM antibody against SARS-CoV-2. In RA patients, rheumatoid factor (RF) appeared to be associated with the seroprevalence of IgG antibody against SARS-CoV-2. CONCLUSION: Our study reveals that the seroprevalences of IgG and IgM antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and vaccination-related adverse effects are similar among SLE, RA and HCs, suggesting that COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective for SLE and RA patients to prevent from the pandemic of COVID-19.

Influenza-like illness (ILI) is one of the most important public health problems globally, causing an enormous disease burden. Influenza infections are the most common cause of ILI. Bacterial and virus co-infection is common yet the data of co-infection with influenza A and B viruses are scarce. To identify the epidemiological patterns of and co-infection of influenza A and B in Anhui province, China, we analyzed the surveillance data of 5 years from 2009 to 2014 collected by the Chinese National influenzas network. The results showed that the weekly ratio of ILI was 3.96 ± 1.9% (95% CI 3.73-4.2%) in outpatients and the highest affected population was children under 5 years old. The epidemic of influenza viruses was highest during 2009-2010. For the other 4 surveillance years, school-aged people (5-14 years) were the most highly affected population. Influenza B and H3N2 viruses were more prevalent than H1N1pdm09 virus after 2010. In addition, a significant co-circulation of influenza A (H1N1pdm09 and H3N2) and influenza B virus was detected with 0.057% PCR positive rate during 2009-2014 in Eastern China, yet isolated only in pediatric patients. Our data reveals school-aged population would be the main vulnerable population and a distinct seasonality for influenza. In addition, the co-infection of influenza A and B were found in Anhui Province, China. Ongoing surveillance is critical to understand the seasonality variation and make evidence-based vaccination recommendations. Information on the epidemiological patterns and co-infections of influenza A and B can help us to implement different strategies for selecting vaccine formulations and monitoring new emerging influenza strains. In addition, the identification of the susceptible population can help us to develop more precise protection measures.

Detection of serum-specific SARS-CoV-2 antibody has become a complementary means for the identification of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). As we already know, the neutralizing antibody titers in patients with COVID-19 decrease during the course of time after convalescence, whereas the duration of antibody responses in the convalescent patients has not been defined clearly. In the current study, we collected 148 serum samples from 37 confirmed COVID-19 cases with different disease severities. The neutralizing antibodies (Nabs), IgM and IgG against COVID-19 were determined by CLIA Microparticle and microneutralization assay, respectively. The time duration of serum titers of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were recorded. Our results indicate that IgG (94.44%) and Nabs (89.19%) can be detected at low levels within 190-266 days of disease onset. The findings can advance knowledge regarding the antibody detection results for COVID-19 patients and provide a method for evaluating the immune response after vaccination.

OBJECTIVES: The Taiwan Triage and Acuity Scale (TTAS), developed for use in EDs, has been shown to be an excellent tool for triaging patients with high predictive performance, with an area under the receiver operating curve (AUROC) of 0.75. TTAS has been widely used in hospitals in Taiwan since 2010, but its utility has not been studied outside of Taiwan. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the validity of using the TTAS in the ED of a tertiary hospital in mainland China to predict patient outcomes. METHODS: A retrospective observational study was performed on patients 14 years of age or older attending the ED of a tertiary hospital in mainland China between 1 January 2016 and 31 March 2016. The validity of the TTAS in predicting hospital admission, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, death, ED length of stay (LOS) and ED resource utilisation was evaluated by determining the correlation of these outcomes with the TTAS, AUROC and test characteristics. RESULTS: A total of 7843 patients were included in this study. There were significant differences between the TTAS categories in disposition, ED LOS and ED resource utilisation (p<0.0001). The TTAS was significantly correlated with patient disposition at discharge, hospital admission, ICU admission and death in the ED (Kendall rank correlations were 0.254, -0.254, -0.079 and -0.071, respectively; p=0.001). The AUROCs for the prediction of hospital admissions, ICU admissions and deaths in the ED were 0.749 (95% CI 0.732 to 0.765), 0.869 (95% CI 0.797 to 0.942) and 0.998 (95% CI 0.995 to 1.000), respectively. Our results demonstrated better performance using the TTAS for predictions of ICU admission and death. CONCLUSIONS: The TTAS had good validity in predicting patient outcomes and ED resource utilisation in a tertiary hospital in mainland China. Compared with the performance of the TTAS in Taiwan, our results suggest that the TTAS can usefully be applied outside of Taiwan.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) is associated with a high risk of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and was previously believed to be associated with an increased risk of surgery. CASE SUMMARY: A 3-day-old full-term male infant was admitted to the pediatrics department after presenting with "low blood glucose for 10 min". Hypoglycemia was corrected by intravenous glucose administration and oral breast milk. On the 3rd d after admission, an ultrasound examination showed gas accumulation in the hepatic portal vein; this increased on the next day. Abdominal vertical radiograph showed intestinal pneumatosis. Routine blood examination showed that the total number of white blood cells was normal, but neutrophilia was related to age. There was a significant increase in C-reactive protein (CRP). The child was diagnosed with neonatal NEC (early-stage). With nil per os, rehydration, parenteral nutritional support, and anti-infection treatment with no sodium, his hepatic portal vein pneumatosis resolved. In addition, routine blood examination and CRP examination showed significant improvement and his symptoms resolved. The patient was given timely refeeding and gradually transitioned to full milk feeding and was subsequently discharged. Follow-up examination after discharge showed that the general condition of the patient was stable. CONCLUSION: The presence of HPVG in neonates indicates early NEC. Early active anti-infective treatment is effective in treating NEC, minimizes the risk of severe NEC, and reduces the need for surgery. The findings of this study imply that early examination of the liver by ultrasound in a sick neonate can help with the early diagnosis of conditions such as NEC.

Periodontitis is initiated by serious and sustained bacterial infection and ultimately results in chronic immune-mediated inflammation, tissue destruction, and bone loss. The pathogenesis of periodontitis remains unclear. Host immunological responses to periodontal bacteria ultimately determine the severity and mechanisms governing periodontitis progression. This study aimed to clarify the effect of the hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) activator dimethyloxalylglycine (DMOG) on a mouse periodontitis model and its underlying role in macrophage polarization. qRT-PCR analysis showed that DMOG inhibited the M1-like polarization of both RAW264.7 macrophages and murine bone marrow macrophages (BMMs) and downregulated TNF-α, IL-6, CD86, and MCP-1 expression in vitro. Immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry also confirmed the less percentage of F4/80 + CD86 + cells after DMOG treatment. The phosphorylation of NF-κB pathway was also inhibited by DMOG with higher level of HIF-1α expression. Furthermore, mice treated with DMOG showed decreased alveolar bone resorption in the experimental periodontitis model, with significant increases in alveolar bone volume/tissue volume (BV/TV) and bone mineral density (BMD). DMOG treatment of mice decreased the ratio of M1/M2 (CD86+/CD206+) macrophages in periodontal tissues, resulting in the downregulation of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6 and increased levels of anti-inflammatory factors such as IL-4 and IL-10. DMOG treatment promoted the number of HIF-1α-positive cells in periodontal tissues. This study demonstrated the cell-specific roles of DMOG in macrophage polarization in vitro and provided insight into the mechanism underlying the protective effect of DMOG in a model of periodontitis.

In the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, we investigated the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of a young patient infected by avian influenza A (H5N6) virus in Anhui Province, East China, and analyzed genomic features of the pathogen in 2020. Through the cross-sectional investigation of external environment monitoring (December 29-31, 2020), 1909 samples were collected from Fuyang City. It was found that the positive rate of H5N6 was higher than other areas obviously in Tianma poultry market, where the case appeared. In addition, dual coinfections were detected with a 0.057% polymerase chain reaction positive rate the surveillance years. The virus was the clade 2.3.4.4, which was most likely formed by genetic reassortment between H5N6 and H9N2 viruses. This study found that the evolution rates of the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase genes of the virus were higher than those of common seasonal influenza viruses. The virus was still highly pathogenic to poultry and had a preference for avian receptor binding.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women all around the world. According to the latest statistics in 2018, there were more than 2.08 million new breast cancer cases all around the world and more than 620000 deaths; the proportion of breast cancer deaths in women with cancer is 15%. By studying age, clinicopathological characteristics and molecular classification, age at menarche, age at birth, number of births, number of miscarriages, lactation time, surgical history of benign breast lesions, history of gynecological diseases, and other factors, we retrospectively summarized and compared the disease history of patients with primary breast cancer and patients with benign thyroid tumors admitted to our hospital in the past 10 years to explore the clinicopathological characteristics and risk factors for primary breast cancer. AIM: To investigate the clinical and pathological features and risk factors for primary breast cancer treated at our center in order to provide a reference for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer in the Zhuhai-Macao region. METHODS: Through a retrospective case-control study, 149 patients with primary breast cancer diagnosed and treated at Zhuhai Hospital of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2013 to March 2020 were included as a case group, and 165 patients with benign breast tumors diagnosed and treated from January 2019 to March 2020 were included as a control group. The data collected included age, age at menarche, age at first birth, number of births, number of miscarriages, lactation time, history of surgery for benign breast lesions, history of familial malignant tumors, history of gynecological diseases, history of thyroid diseases, and the tumor characteristics of the patients in the case group including pathological diagnosis, pathological type, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, stage, and molecular classification, among others. In the case group, the chi-square test was used to analyze the clinical and pathological features of patients in three age groups (< 40, 40-59, and ≥ 60 years). A multifactor logistic regression analysis was used to analyze correlations between the two groups. RESULTS: Among 149 patients with primary breast cancer, the average age was 48.20 ± 12.06 years, and the proportion of patients at 40-59 years old was the highest, accounting for 61.8% of cases. The molecular type was mainly luminal B type, accounting for 69.2% of cases, and at the time of diagnosis, the tumor stage was mainly stage I/II, accounting for 62.4% of cases. There were no statistically significant differences in the distributions of tumor location, pathological type, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, stage, or molecular classification among the three age groups (< 40, 40-59, and ≥ 60 years) (P ≥ 0.05). The differences in the distribution of distant metastasis among the three age groups (< 40, 40-59, and ≥ 60 years) were statistically significant (P < 0.01). The differences in lactation time, history of familial malignant tumors, history of gynecological diseases, and history of thyroid diseases between the two groups were not statistically significant (P ≥ 0.05). The differences in age at disease diagnosis, age at menarche, and history of surgery for benign breast lesions were statistically significant (P < 0.01). The difference in age at first birth was also statistically significant (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The highest incidence of breast cancer in the Zhuhai-Macao region is present among women aged 40-59 years. There is a larger proportion of stage I/II patients, and the luminal B type is the most common molecular subtype. Distant metastasis occurs mainly in the ≥ 60-year-old group at the first diagnosis; increased age, late age at menarche, and late age at first birth may be risk factors for primary breast cancer, and a history of surgery for benign breast lesions may be a protective factor for primary breast cancer.

Dendrobium officinale is a traditional Chinese medicine for nourishing Yin and benefiting stomach. Its superfine powder has many advantages, such as good dissolution, high utilization rate, strong integrity and easy to use. However, the researches on effect of D. officinale superfine powder on stomach Yin deficiency model are still not sufficient. In this experiment, we explored the effect of D. officinale superfine powder in mice model with stomach Yin deficiency caused by "spicy overeating", and provided certain reference value for its application in gastrointestinal diseases. Male ICR mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, Yiweitang group, omeprazole group, and D. officinale superfine powder high, medium and low dose groups. The mixture of wine and pepper liquid was given by gavage administration for 30 d, and the corresponding drug was given for 60 d while the model was conti-nued. The body weight, food intake, water intake, fecal moisture content and particle number, foot temperature of mice were measured. The levels of serum gastrin(Gas), motilin(MTL) and somatostatin(SS) were measured by ELISA. Gastric histomorpho-logy was observed by HE staining. The expression levels of nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) were determined by immunohistochemistry. The expression levels of B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2) and Bcl-2 associated X protein(Bax) in gastric tissues were detected by Western blot. The results showed that D. officinale superfine powder could increase the food intake, water intake, fecal moisture content and particle number, reduce the foot temperature, improve the pathological changes of gastric mucosa, reduce the expression of NF-κB, COX-2 protein in gastric tissues, and increase the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2. D. officinale superfine powder can "nourish Yin and benefit the stomach", improve the syndrome of stomach Yin deficiency, such as "hunger but not want to eat, dry mouth but not want to drink, hand and feet hot, constipation", and reduce the damage of gastric mucosa. The mechanism may be related to regulating the secretion of gastrointestinal hormones, inhibiting the inflammation of gastric tissues and promoting the apoptosis of abnormal cells in gastric tissues.

Dendrobium officinale is a sacred product for nourishing Yin and has a clear "thick gastrointestinal" effect. Modern pharmacological studies had found that it could improve gastrointestinal function. This study observed the improvement effect of D. officinale on constipation model mice with Yin deficiency caused by warm-drying medicine. It provided experimental basis for the treatment of Yin deficiency constipation. The male and female ICR mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, D. officinale high, medium and low dose groups(0.6, 0.4, 0.2 g·kg~(-1)), and phenolphthalein tablets group. The model mice of Yin deficiency constipation were established by gavage with warm-drying medicine. The overall state and body temperature of the mice were observed and recorded. The number of feces, feces weight, fecal moisture content and intestinal propulsion were measured. The morphological damage of colon tissue was observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. The expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) in the colon was detected by Western blot and immunohistochemical method. The expression of iNOS mRNA in the colon was detected by Real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, and the serum cyclic guanosine phosphate(cGMP) level was detected the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The results showed that D. candidum could reduce the body temperature of mice with Yin deficiency constipation, increase the number of feces, wet feces, dry feces and intestinal propulsion ability, reduce the expression of iNOS protein and mRNA in the colon, and reduce the content of cGMP in the serum. It showed that D. candidum could improve the symptoms of Yin deficiency constipation mice caused by warm-drying medicine, and the mechanism may be related to reducing the expression of iNOS in the colon and increasing intestinal motility.
